Hunting the Northern Lights in Northern Norway
Northern Norway is situated in the middle of the Earth’s Northern Lights belt, so you can see some of the best Northern Lights activity in the world here. In places like Tromsø and Alta there are professional Northern Light hunters who drive where there are the best chances of seeing them. In Kirkenes, you can hunt the Northern Lights on snowmobiles or walk after the green rays in snowshoes in Karasjok. You will get the best scientific explanation in Lofoten, while Nyksund in Vesterålen is a particularly dark place. Hurtigruten sails through the entire Northern Lights belt on its voyage through Northern Norway.
